Having been a fitness fanatic and involved in a number of sports since the age of 15, I stopped all exercise for approximately 4 years, following an illness.  In the summer of 2012 I decided to try to get some of my fitness back because of weight gain and stiffening joints, and on recommendation I contacted Sandra at Sansafit.

I have now been working with Sandra for approximately 6 months and through her encouragement, support and personalised exercise programmes, have managed to gradually build up my fitness, strength and suppleness to levels I never thought I could achieve again. As a result of my regular sessions with Sandra and extensive range of exercises which I can do at home I have lost 2 ½ stone and have built up muscle, toned and completed all my training without illness or any injury – apart from the odd aching hamstring!

Over the years I have attended every type of class and carried out every type of exercise – or so I thought!  Whilst working with Sandra I have learned so many new exercises and combinations with weights, running programmes and the best of all… Kettlebells!  I have also worked with numerous fitness ‘experts’ but have complete confidence in Sandra because she is highly trained, very knowledgeable and most of all she has been an inspiration to me!

Sandra is also a qualified STOTT PILATES teacher, which is a huge plus point for me as I have an existing back injury.  Although I have always carried out my own stretching exercises to keep the suppleness in my back, since taking regular Pilates sessions all my back pain has gone and I have built up my core strength.

Weight loss to date – 3 stones (19 kg)

Aged 45 at the time and with two young children I realised that I needed to lose weight as at just short of 16 stone I knew I was not a healthy person. Motivation has always been a weakness of mine and hence I decided to address this by working with a personal trainer. I started working with Sandra in August 2011 and by February 2012 working to Sandra’s slow and steady fitness and nutritional programme, to maintain the weight loss, I was down to just a pound above my target weight of 13 stone. The programme Sandra worked with me on also gave me a high level of fitness which I still maintain. Sandra introduced me to running with a local jogging club outwith our training and by running with the club and her support and encouragement I was soon completing 10km races in good times for my age and Sandra pushed me on again to recently completing a half marathon in September 2012 in under 2 hours. I now feel and look a completely different man (see photos) and intend to stay this way – with Sandra’s help! I would thoroughly recommend Sandra to anyone who wishes to work with a very approachable and knowledgeable trainer who will provide and adapt the necessary support and training programme required for each individual. You provide the commitment and she will provide the results!

Weight loss to date – 2 stones 12 pounds (18 kg)



I had decided 2012 would be my year to lose weight and regain my fitness.  I enjoy a very busy work and social life and rather than wait until 2012, I decided in order to limit any damage over the festive period it was “now or never”.  Following recommendation from a friend, in November 2011 I contacted Sandra at Sansfit and can honestly say it has been the smartest move I have made.  I hoped that Sandra would be my guiding light and she most certainly has lived up to and exceeded my expectations.

From day one Sandra has provided me with the structure and discipline I have needed to meet my goals.  I have benefitted from a great eating and fitness regime which I continue to take in my stride and thoroughly enjoy.  Sandra is full of small tips which have made a big difference to me.  I eat healthily however I am pleased to say my social life has not suffered and every week (with the very odd week being the exception eg after Christmas and holiday) I have enjoyed weight loss.

I continue to visit Sandra on a weekly basis and make maximum use of the excellent and private fitness facility that she has.  Outwith the visits Sandra has given me fitness programmes which I can easily use at my own gym to further improve my results.

Sandra and her approach has been a rock to me.  It is a healthy lifestyle which is easily sustainable and can adapt to both my busy working and social lives and already I have reached a weight loss success which I have never reached before.  The journey continues and I fully intend to keep Sandra on board as I have absolute faith that her approach together with the crucial one to one attention will result in me reaching my ultimate target weight and fitness levels.

Weight Loss to date – 3 stones  2 pounds (20 kg)

On retiring I decided that I needed to look at my lifestle and contacted Sandra [Farrell ] at Sansafit, Fenwick .Over the last 8 weeks I have followed  a dietry and exercise programme devised by Sandra. This encompassing programme has enabled me to use familiar gym equipment more effectively by correcting poor posture.  An individualised programme  of  free weights, floor  and Swiss ball exercises has been beneficial to my core strength, balance, body tone and fitness levels. This coupled with dietary advice has enabled me to loose 14 lbs, whilst eating a more balanced diet [including carbohydrates which had become a no-no to me!!] It was a wise decision when I contacted Sandra from Sansafit  for assistance.

Weight Loss – 1 stone

In mid October 2010 I approached Sandra for advice about exercising and losing weight as I was by far the most unfit and overweight I had ever been. In early 2008 I had retired at age 49, at which time my fitness had already declined and I was overweight. Following my retirement my fitness deteriorated even further and much more weight piled on as my activity levels suddenly dropped and my food and drink consumption steadily increased.

Over a period of 30 years prior to my retirement, I had regularly taken part in and enjoyed organised group exercise sessions such as circuit training. However, knowing how much weight I had gained and fitness I had lost I was now too self-conscious to return to group circuit training or to even train in a communal gym.

Sandra’s private gym and one to one personal training instruction provided an ideal way for me to get back into the way of training again in a discreet, friendly and supportive environment. I was extremely impressed with Sandra’s advice on appropriate exercises and even more impressed with her ability to identify where my techniques were incorrectly carried out and fine tune the techniques for maximum benefit. In simple terms there were exercises I have been performing incorrectly for many years that felt immediately more concentrated and beneficial once Sandra had altered my technique.

Sandra also took the time to provide excellent and detailed information and advice on diet and healthy eating, which she has helped me with on an ongoing basis. By the application of Sandra’s advice and by my own self-motivation I have been able to get my weight back down to a healthy level that I last experienced when I was in my early thirties. Suffice to say as a result of Sandra’s first-rate instruction, advice and help, I now feel fitter and healthier than I have felt in a very, very long time.

20 March 2012 – Update

A year has passed since I completed my training with Sandra and lost 4st 1lb, and I’m pleased to say I’m still feeling fit and healthy. Over the course of the entire year I’ve stayed within a few pounds either side of the target weight that I reached at the conclusion of my training and I was initially surprised at how easy I’ve found it to do so.

This has been a fantastic result for me, as prior to being trained by Sandra I couldn’t maintain even small weight losses. I still love my food and drink, but I now have a far better understanding of how to balance things out in a healthy and sustainable way.

Although technically I’ve maintained my considerable weight loss on my own for the past 12 months, I am in no doubt whatsoever that my ongoing success is a direct result of the knowledge I gained from the first class guidance and training that Sandra gave me about exercise and healthy eating.

I have always had a lot of energy. I was fit and had great stamina. Then 8 years ago, all this changed. I had post viral fatigue or ME. For the last 8 years I have had no energy. A physiotherapist suggested I try Pilates.

For the past 5 months, Sandra has worked with me once a week and helped me to regain some stamina. Because of this, I have been less tired, able to do more and become fitter.

You will find Sandra an excellent Pilates teacher. She is sensitive to your capabilities and tailors the level and pace of exercise to achieve an increase in stamina and fitness.

When I began my 11 training sessions with Sandra I was overweight, unmotivated and lacking energy. She motivated me to get fit and loose weight. Using her knowledge of food and nutrition she put together a healthy eating plan for me to use which has resulted in me losing 13 lbs in weight.

She also gave me an exercise plan tailored to suit my lifestyle which I really enjoy.

I always look forward to my training sessions with Sandra , she is very encouraging and motivating and makes exercise fun.

I’m now slimmer, more enthusiastic and have a lot more energy thanks to Sandra.

Finally taking the decision to tackle my weight and personal fitness issues was a very emotional moment for me. With the support and encouragement of Sandra (Sansafit), I was able to take the life changing step, and really feel the benefit of healthy eating and daily exercise.

Sansafit’s modern gym is well equipped and once I got over the “gym phobia” and with Sandra’s advice, I began my journey to fitness!

The exercise programme Sandra set for me fits well into my daily routine and with little disruption. My weekly visit to Sansafit Gym for a workout and weigh in, is something I look forward to – and seeing my weight loss in black and white is a huge incentive for me!

Sandra’s professionalism and experience give me the confidence to carry on and strive to reach my goal.
